Почему Майкрософт прекращает поддержку Windows XP SP3 и Office 2003?


В 2002 г. Майкрософт впервые представила политику, согласно которой устанавливаются сроки поддержки. Согласно этой политике, гарантированная поддержка продуктов Майкрософт для бизнеса и разработчиков, в том числе Windows и Office, предоставляется не менее 10 лет (5 лет основной и 5 лет расширенной поддержки для соответствующего уровня пакетов обновления).

Но, чтобы ИТ-решения приносили компании реальную выгоду, одной поддержки недостаточно: необходимы инновационные возможности. Сегодня большинство пользователей ожидает от продуктов таких возможностей, появление которых в далеком 2001 году мог предсказать далеко не каждый. Кроме того, число пользователей старых версий сокращается, поэтому 8 апреля 2014 г . поддержка Windows XP и Office 2003 будет окончательно прекращена.

Основываясь на собранных среди клиентов данных внедрения, средний цикл развертывания этих продуктов может занимать от 18 до 32 месяцев. Чтобы быть уверенными, что вы используете поддерживаемые версии Windows и Office, необходимо начать планирование и миграцию уже сейчас.

Extending Chrome support for XP users until April 2015



On April 8, 2014, after more than a decade of powering many of the world’s computers, Windows XP will officially retire. Like all technologies that come to their end-of-life, the XP operating system and most of its desktop applications will no longer receive updates and security patches. Since unpatched browser bugs are often used by malware to infect computers, we’re extending support for Chrome on Windows XP, and will continue to provide regular updates and security patches until at least April 2015.




We recognize that hundreds of millions of users, including a good chunk of current Chrome users, still rely on XP. Moreover, many organizations still run dozens or even hundreds of applications on XP and may have trouble migrating. Our goal is to support Chrome for XP users during this transition process. Most importantly, Chrome on XP will still be automatically updated with the latest security fixes to protect against malware and phishing attacks.
